The Club Company has announced the acquisition of Moor Allerton Golf Club, one of Yorkshire's most respected and historic golfing venues.
The acquisition marks another significant milestone in The Club Company's continued growth as the UK's largest owner and operator of country clubs, reflecting its strategy of acquiring exceptional clubs with strong heritage and long-term growth potential.
Founded in 1923, Moor Allerton has played an important role in Yorkshire golf for more than a century. Originally established on a course designed by the renowned Dr Alister MacKenzie, the club relocated in 1970 to its current Robert Trent Jones Sr-designed 27-hole golf course, where it has continued to build its reputation as one of the county's leading golf clubs.
Richard Calvert, Chief Executive Officer of The Club Company, said: "Moor Allerton has a proud heritage, a loyal membership and a reputation that has been built over generations. We see ourselves not simply as owners, but as custodians, with a responsibility to protect the heritage, traditions and values that have shaped the club for more than a century.”
"Our approach has always been simple: respect a club's heritage, plan for the long term and continually enhance the experience for members and visitors alike. Great clubs never stand still, and our ambition is to build on the exceptional foundations that already exist at Moor Allerton, drawing on our experience of operating leading country clubs and an unwavering focus on delivering an outstanding member experience, whilst remaining true to the character and values that define the club today.”
Ian Land, spokesperson for Moor Allerton added: "Throughout this process, it became clear that The Club Company shares our belief that great clubs should continue to evolve whilst remaining true to the heritage and values that make them unique." "Their proven track record of investing in well-established country clubs, enhancing the customer and member experience, and operating successful country clubs gave us complete confidence that they are the right organisation to build on everything that has made Moor Allerton so special.”
"We believe The Club Company has the experience, resources and long-term vision to help Moor Allerton realise its full potential while respecting the traditions and character that have defined the club for more than a century.”
The Club Company will work closely with members, employees and the wider golfing community as it begins the next chapter in Moor Allerton's history, combining long-term investment with its expertise in member experience, hospitality and club operations to further strengthen the club's position as one of Yorkshire's leading golf clubs.
